Job Overview
We are actively seeking committed and enthusiastic ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Instructors to join our esteemed team. In this remote, part-time capacity, you will play a pivotal role in empowering adult learners by enhancing their essential language skills, which are crucial for daily life and professional endeavors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to creating an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning atmosphere for a diverse range of adult learners, including immigrants and refugees.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct online ESOL lessons tailored to adult learners, focusing on reading, writing, conversation, pronunciation, and grammar (approximately 12-15 students per class).
- Teach four mornings a week (Monday to Thursday, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM).
- Design and implement dynamic lesson plans that address various skill levels and learning styles, ensuring that content is pertinent to students’ personal and professional aspirations, particularly in employment and cultural integration.
- Foster active participation through conversation practice, emphasizing practical, real-world applications.
- Assess student language capabilities and monitor progress to identify areas for enhancement.
- Maintain transparent communication with students regarding attendance and class participation.
- Collaborate with case managers and ESOL Program Managers to align lessons with students’ goals.
- Engage with fellow instructors and the ESOL team to develop a cohesive curriculum that supports language acquisition and social integration.
- Attend bi-monthly staff meetings and be accessible during office hours for student support.
Required Skills
- Exceptional command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in using digital tools such as Google Meet, Google Classroom, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated experience and ability in engaging diverse adult learners across varying language skill levels.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in teaching ESOL.
- A Bachelor’s Degree along with TESOL, TESL, or TEFL certification.
